Make me a political sellout
Read all about my new play, my thought process and how to buy the many many tickets you want to see it!
Well, it’s real. Tickets are now on sale for my new play Triggered.
This is the story of a Trigger ballot and full selection process of a fictional Labour MP in the fictional town of Hollingsdeane. It is not based on any real events of people.
What I have tried to make as real as possible are the thoughts, emotions and motivations behind the action. This play doesn’t make a case for or against deselection/reselection processes but allows the characters to take sides and argue it out among themselves.
There is no bad guy and no goodie. No white hats and black hats. Just people - very very human people. As are all the people I talked to in researching the play, which includes a former Corbyn speechwriter and someone from Labour To Win. I wanted to show that you can have very real political differences - with very real consequences - without any side having the kind of moral authority or deficiency we all too often ascribe to our team/opponents.
Have I managed this? You decide!
The play will run for three nights at the Lion and Unicorn, Kentish Town from June 20th - 22nd. You can buy tickets here.
