I am delighted to announce my next play which is going on at the Lion and Unicorn Theatre 6th - 10th May. It's written and directed by me and it's a piece I am really proud of. It's showing at the lovely Lion and Unicorn Theatre in Kentish Town, which is above a pub which does great food (none of which is "on plan") so you can make a night of it!
Four Weigh-Ins and a Funeral celebrates the bonds that form between women of different ages, classes, races and sizes at a SlimmingWorld group.
This is a very personal piece for me. It’s written from experience. It’s not a play about losing weight – but about finding a community. I created the piece to celebrate the love and solidarity I get from the Tuesday morning Walthamstow SlimmingWorld group and it is dedicated to Gulnaz - my SlimmingWorld Mummy.
With little in common but their geography and a desire to lose weight (or keep it off), this play explores how much we truly have in common - however different we all are. Middle class bridge instructors share recipes and family gossip with Muslim matriarchs. Everyone supports each other as they go through the ups and downs of life together. This 'found community' meet every week and form the strongest of bonds.
Along the way, there are laughter and tears, celebrations and commiserations.
Tickets are available here and I would love to see you there!
